Professor Peter Mbati is the Vice Chancellor of the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences. He has extensive experience in higher education executive leadership, having served as Vice Chancellor of the University of Venda, Group Executive Livestock at the Agricultural Research Council, Campus Principal of the QwaQwa campus of the University of the Free State and also Deputy ProVice Chancellor Academic at the Botho University in Gaborone, Botswana.
Prof. Mbati has won several national, continental and international awards including among others the RUFORUM IMPRESSA Award: a recognition award to Professor Mbati for excellence in research, institutional transformation and building Africa’s human resource capacity in 2017 in Lilongwe Malawi. Mbati is an astute researcher and was an NRF-rated researcher for over 15 years. He has presented papers at several national and international conferences, and supervised several Masters and doctoral students. He has published widely in peer reviewed scientific journals in the areas of immuneparasitology and diagnostics.
